Colby Covington & Tyron Woodley Say They’re Down to Scrap at UFC 249

With Khabib Nurmagomedov’s participation at UFC 249 looking seriously in doubt, both Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley have pushed for their grudge match to be part of the card.

Covington and Woodley are willing to fight April 18th

Despite all the various restrictions being enacted by governments, on account of the coronavirus, Dana White has continued to say that UFC 249 will take place. In addition, the UFC President’s insisted that Khabib’s bout with Tony Ferguson will go down.

But, following Russian’s ban on travel in-and-out of the country, Nurmagomedov recently reported that he may be out of the event.

More recently, both Covington and Woodley tweeted out the comments below.

“The offer still stands @ufc,” Covington wrote. “I’ll go full Teddy Roosevelt & beat the breaks off @TWooodley live from The @WhiteHouse lawn! Save sports and make it free on @ESPN for the people! Im in such a giving mood I’ll even arrange a tour of the oval office for Tyrone, since Obama never did.”

“@ufc Me vs Qweefington April 18th unless Tony wanna roll back up to his Ultimate Fighter weight for the bag. WW bout won’t take no cheese out his LW macaroni.”

Could Covington – Woodley happen?

Now, considering Woodley was training to fight Leon Edwards at the now postponed, March 21st, UFC London card, you would think he’s more than willing and able to fight on April 18th. Covington could be willing to step up as well. 

But, at this point, with the cases of coronavirus mounting, and with Khabib likely not able to attend, you have to really wonder if the card will happen (in addition to whether it should happen).

UFC 249 was initially scheduled to take place on April 18th in Brooklyn. But due to the pandemic and restrictions on gatherings in the state the card has to be relocated.
