Lori Loughlin prison

Former “Fuller House” actress Lori Loughlin may not be going to prison for her role in the college admissions scandal after all. Louglin’s lawyer just filed a motion to have her trial postponed after new evidence surfaced which he describes as “exonerating”.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli face numerous bribery and fraud charges that could put the couple in prison for 40 years.

However, that could change with this new evidence. Which includes recently released personal notes from college admissions scandal mastermind Rick Singer.

Loughlin And Giannulli Claim New Evidence Exonerates Them

Fox News reported that Sean M. Berkowitz, the lawyer representing Loughlin and Giannulli, filed court documents based on personal notes obtained from Singer. In his notes, Singer suggests that FBI investigators forced him to lie about whether the parents knew their money was being used for bribery instead of for legitimate donations to colleges.

Loughlin and Giannulli have long claimed that they did not know what Singer was doing with their $500,000. That they had no idea he used the money to bribe University of Southern California. And that said bribe is what actually got their two daughters admitted to USC. Even though both daughters were admitted as student athletes on the crew team despite their lack of rowing experience.

The new motion states, “Singer’s notes indicate that FBI agents yelled at him and instructed him to lie by saying that he told his clients who participated in the alleged ‘side door’ scheme that their payments were bribes, rather than legitimate donations that went to the schools. They further note the Government’s desire to ‘nail’ one of the defendants ‘at all costs.’”

Rick Singer’s Personal Notes

The motion filed on Loughlin and Giannulli’s behalf includes Singer’s actual notes. Specifically, the notes in which he alleges FBI investigators directed him to “bend the truth.”

“Loud and abrasive call with agents,” Rick Singer wrote. “They continue to ask me to tell a fib and not restate what I told my clients as to where their money was going — to the program not the coach and that it was a donation and they want it to be a payment.”

In his motion, Berkowitz also blasts prosecutors for accusing Loughlin and Giannulli of withholding evidence. He states:

“The supplemental discovery produced today demonstrates that the Government was simply not being truthful with Defendants or the Court in the above filings, given that as early as October 2, 2018, Singer told agents working on the case the exact information we have been seeking in discovery, and those agents attempted to bully him into lying and saying something different. This belated discovery, which should have been produced no later than 30 days after indictment, is devastating to the Government’s case and demonstrates that the Government has been improperly withholding core exculpatory information, employing a ‘win at all costs’ effort rather than following their obligation to do justice.”

“The Government is trying to benefit from withholding information in violation of its obligations and the Defendants’ constitutional rights, but then force trial as quickly as it can. The Government should not be rewarded, nor the Defendants punished, for this kind of egregious lack of candor and violation of its obligations.”

Loughlin And Giannulli Face Decades In Prison

After everything that has happened, it would be shocking to see these two actually avoid prison. Especially given the couple is looking at up to 40 years behind bar.

But then, I’m sure they have the best lawyer that their money can buy. And we’ve all seen what a Hollywood lawyer can do.

Should Rick Singer’s notes prove to be true, however, this could expose a witch hunt of sorts. Did authorities manipulate the case against Lori Loughlin and her husband?

Only time will tell. There’s still much to be revealed before America can know the truth of the matter.

In any case, it’s certainly safe to say that this scandal has more layers than an onion.
