To date, Khabib Nurmagomedov has repeatedly shot down the idea that he’ll rematch Conor McGregor anytime soon. But, recently the UFC’s lightweight champ father, Abdulmanap, reportedly provided a figure that could open the door to Khabib vs. Conor 2. The figure that the renowned coach has said the UFC will need to pay, however, is pretty, pretty, massive.

Khabib’s father comments on the possibility of a McGregor rematch

Ever since Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in October, 2018, at UFC 229, there’s been talk about the rivals fighting again. McGregor has repeatedly pushed for a rematch, and now that he’s defeated Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, Dana White has said the star’s next in line for a title shot.

But, for months, Khabib has argued that McGregor will need to record multiple wins, before he deserves to fight for the belt again. The argument being that just a win over Cerrone, who was coming off losses to Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje, doesn’t warrant a rematch. Further, Khabib has said that since he’s already financially set, his stance isn’t about money.

Well, recently Khabib’s father Abdulmanap did an interview with RIA Novosti.  While talking about the possibility of his son fighting McGregor again, the coach reportedly said this (quote via MMA Mania):

”We also need revenge against Conor,” Abdulmanap said. “But give us $100 million. The day after the fight against Ferguson, give us that amount and then why not get revenge? I don’t know, maybe Dana White wants to arrange it (for that amount), he needs that fight.”

How about that? So, there’s a couple of things to consider here. First off, Khabib has said in the past that just because his father says something, it doesn’t necessarily represent his view. So, it could be the case that Abdulmanap assumes this figure would get his son on board with fighting McGregor again.

Then, of course, the chances of the UFC agreeing to his payout are slim to none. Yes, even if Khabib vs. Conor 2 would likely be one of the biggest fights in history.

White believes that Khabib will agree to fight Conor again

But, apparently White believes Khabib will in fact agree to rematch Conor. While talking about the possibility of Nurmagomedov – McGregor 2, following the latter’s win at UFC 246, the UFC President said this (quote via MMA Fighting):

“The reality is Khabib has never turned down a fight – ever,” White said. “Khabib doesn’t turn down fights; that’s not his style. He hates Conor McGregor and Conor McGregor hates him. So anytime you talk about one to the other, those are the types of responses you’re going to get.”

We shall see. First things first, Khabib needs to get by one of the most dangerous and skilled lightweights on the plant in Tony Ferguson. The stars are booked to fight on April 18th at UFC 249.
