WWE Releases Two Superstars, Jon Moxley Returns To NJPW

WWE Releases Sin Cara And Luke Harper

There were rumors of WWE releasing talent in December and that turned out to be true. Sin Cara and Luke Harper have been granted their releases.

On their website, WWE posted the following short message.

WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper) and Sin Cara. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.

Latest on Sin Cara’s Release

Sin Cara has been portrayed by several names over the years. Lately, Jorge Arias had been under the mask. Before using the Sin Cara name, he worked for WWE has Hunico. He posted the following message on social media today.

He had been out action for a lengthy time after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery. His only feud since returning was against Andrade and Zelina Vega. During the short feud, he was paired with Carolina; who also since been sent back to NXT.

There has been speculation that Sin Cara wants to work for Alberto El Patron’s Combate Americas MMA. He reportedly had three years left on his WWE contract.

More About Luke Harper Parting With WWE

As for Harper, he went public asking for his releasing back in April. It was believed that WWE would add time to his contact until  2020 as he missed months of action because of wrist surgery.

He would return to TV in September, realigning himself with Erick Rowan. They briefly feud with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan until Harper was quietly removed from TV. In late November, he filed for the trademark “Brodie Lee,” which was his Indy name.

WWE had not been granting releases due to fear that All Elite Wrestling (AEW) would sign talent. The impression now is that WWE will give the releases if they do not fear the wrestlers will join AEW.

Jon Moxley Returns To NJPW

Jon Moxley returned during the finals at today’s NJPW World Tag League. He was searching for the IWGP Championship, which he had to vacate in October after not being able to appear at the King of Pro-Wrestling card against Juice Robinson.

Since then, Lance Archer was able to capture the belt. Moxely came through the crowd and ended up hitting the paradigm shift on Archer and Minoru Suzuki.

Then, he took the mic and stated he was returning at Wrestle Kingdom 14, which takes place January 4 and 5 from the Tokyo Dome. He added that there would be a Texas Deathmatch stipulation for the match.

While Moxley is one of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling, he is allowed to compete for other promotions.
