WWE Changes NXT Plans After Win, AEW Headed To New Jersey

Will Ratings Win Alter WWE’s Plans For Taking NXT On Road?

In the final live head-to-head meeting of the year between WWE’s NXT and AEW’s Dynamite, it was NXT coming out on top. The show, which airs on USA Network, won the overall ratings battle for the first time, along with taking all the key demographics for adults and younger.

However, despite the success, there remain no plans to move NXT from the Full Sail Arena.

Previously, some believed that the program could start to appear in new arenas. But, as reported before, NXT is set to be produced from the Full Sail Arena in Florida through at least March.

“They’re pretty much committed to Full Sail through March,” said Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio. “You know, they were gonna – there was talk of going out in January – but you know now that they’re not losing in the ratings and it’s not an embarrassment you know, they don’t need to.”

“You know, if it becomes an embarrassment that’s a different story. Vince doesn’t like to lose. Right now, they’re not blaming the venue because they’re doing okay.”

NXT’s History At The Full Sail Arena

Full Sail Arena has been the home for NXT since 2010, with over 500 events having taken place in the Orlando-area area. The WWE has brought NXT on the road as a way to double-up for big events such as WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series.

NXT’s Undisputed Era will square off with NXT United Kingdom’s Imperium at Worlds Collide on Saturday, January 25 in a special eight-man tag match.

NXT TakeOver: Portland is set for February 16, from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. No bouts have been confirmed for the card yet, but it will mark the first Sunday event for the promotion.

AEW Heading To New Jersey For The First Time

All Elite Wrestling will move along the East Coast up to New Jersey for the first time in 2020.

AEW: Dynamite is set to go down on Wednesday, March 25 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The promotion is billing it as the first show from the tri-state area, which includes New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

In 2020, AEW has plans to hold Dynamite shows in Jacksonville, Florida; Southaven, Mississippi; Coral Gables, Florida for Bash at the Beach; Cleveland, Ohio; Huntsville, Alabama; Cedar Park, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and Independence, Missouri.

They will also head to Chicago for the pay-per-view event, Revolution, in February.
