Which UFC 245 Title Fight Has The Most Intrigue?

The UFC is giving fight fans around the world an early Christmas present with UFC 245 this coming Saturday night.

Inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will be three title fights, headlined by Kamaru Usman defending his UFC welterweight championship against former interim titleholder Colby Covington.

But that is not all.

Max Holloway is back, as he puts his featherweight strap on the line against top contender Alexander Volkanovski, with double-champion Amanda Nunes defending her women’s bantamweight belt against former featherweight champion – also the other title Nunes holds – Germaine de Randamie.

Heck, even the rest of the scheduled main card is solid. Former UFC champion Jose Aldo debuts at bantamweight against former World Series of Fighting champion Marlon Moraes, while Urijah Faber returns to take on Petr Yan.

With that all being said, which of the three title fights presents the most intrigue?

All three offer up a little something interesting.

Kamaru Usman-Colby Covington Is Good, Old Fashioned Rivalry

Usman vs. Covington has the most heat with it. Former teammates who have soured on one another, leading to a near-brawl several times while meeting outside the Octagon.

Finally, the cage door will close and we will get to see the two welterweights square off with no rules – well, other than the UFC ones.

Can “Blessed” Finish Out The Year As Champion?

Holloway vs. Volkanovski is going to give us all the chance to see if “Blessed” can stake his claim to being the greatest UFC featherweight champion of all-time. Volkanovski is coming off wins over Aldo, Chad Mendes and Darren Elkins in the past two years.

But this is the proud Hawaiian entering his fifth featherweight title fight. Volkanovski has never competed for UFC gold, and Holloway also has his meeting with Dustin Poirier from earlier this year in his back pocket as experience.

Will De Randamie Become Another Name On Nunes’ Resume?

Nunes vs. de Randamie could be the toughest test to date for the Brazilian champion. Which is definitely saying something.

The 35-year-old de Randamie has not lost since 2013, which just so happened to come at the hands of Nunes. She is an unbeaten kickboxer with plenty of knockout power.

Nunes is unbeaten since 2014 and owns wins over Miesha Tate, UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko, Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg during her run. Adding de Randamie would likely solidify her as the greatest female fighter of all-time.

So, which is most intriguing? As you just read, all three provide a little something interesting, but there is really nothing more exciting than a good, old fashioned feud which is what Usman and Covington bring to the table.
