Chan Sung Jung recorded yet another, memorable stoppage today at UFC Busan, and “The Korean Zombie” did so while dealing with an eyesight issue.

“The Korean Zombie” reports he was seeing double

Jung faced the legendary Frankie Edgar in the headliner of today’s card. “The Korean Zombie” rocked Edgar moments in with some hard punches, and although the latter did his best to recover, Jung’s assault proved to be too much.

Well, while talking to the media afterward, the 32-year-old Jung relayed the following (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Those that follow me on Instagram might know, but currently I have an eye condition that makes me see double,” Jung said. “Right now, everyone in this room, I’m seeing double of everything. I have double vision. It’s not a huge, major surgery, but is still gonna take about a couple, three months to recover.”

So, yes, Jung is bigger and more powerful than Edgar, but this news makes his win that much more impressive no? After all, Edgar has great footwork and is ridiculously explosive. Even at the age of 38.

Jung wants a title shot, but will he get it?

After his big win today, Jung called for a fight with new featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski. But is that a realistic goal right now?

While Jung’s a fan favorite on account of his finishing abilities and aggressive style, it would be kind of shocking if he got his wish here. Volkanovki has said he’s willing to give Max Holloway an immediate rematch, and due to the latter’s reign as champ that seems like a possibility.

If the UFC doesn’t want to go with an immediate rematch, however, you would think Zabit Magomedsharipov is ahead of Jung in the title shot race. Zabit has gone 6-0 to date in the UFC and he’s also ranked one spot higher than “Zombie” at #3.

Jung has the edge on Zabit, in terms of his tenure with the UFC and he’s beaten some big names during his time with the promotion. But, Jung isn’t far removed from a KO loss to Yair Rodriguez. If the UFC moves forward with Volkanovski – Holloway 2, what about Jung – Magomedsharipov for a title shot eliminator?Although, it wouldn’t be surprising if the UFC looks at having Zabit fight Rodriguez in the near future.

All this aside, hopefully Jung’s eye surgery and recovery goes well and he’s not sidelined for too long.
