After months of speculation as to when and who Tyron Woodley will fight next, it looks like the former welterweight champ is going to throw hands with Leon Edwards. Not only is there a report that the two are going to fight in March, but Woodley has fired a social media warning shot at “Rocky”.

Woodley warns Edwards

Recently MMA Junkie reported that sources have confirmed Woodley and Edwards have agreed to fight on March 28th in London, England.  Woodley also posted the comments and video below (warning: graphic language).

So, this match-up shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as there’s been talk about the two possibly fighting for a while now. That said, it does raise some interesting questions about Kamaru Usman’s next fight, and who could be challenging for the welterweight title next.

If Woodley and Edwards are fighting, then this points to Jorge Masvidal receiving a title shot. But, “Gamebred” has repeatedly said he’s looking for a big-money bout next. For example, he’s been fielding endless questions about fighting Conor McGregor, if the latter gets by Donald Cerrone on January  18th.

All that aside, Woodley (19-4-1) will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since March, when he lost the welterweight crown to Usman.

Edwards (18-3) has been steadily rising the welterweight ranks thanks to an eight-fight winning streak, which includes wins over notable names like Gunnar Nelson, Donald Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos.
