TLC In A Nutshell: Will 2019 Go Out With A Bang?

WWE’s final PPV of 2019 comes at us live Sunday evening, and once it’s all said and done, we will get to answer a burning question: will 2019 go out with a bang? Or will things end on more of a whimper? It’s been a bit of a interesting build to this closing show of the year. Most of the matches were only announced or confirmed recently, per the bosses orders. It’s a bit of an odd way to sell fans on one of your shows, but many of us have long ago stopped trying to figure out Vince McMahon. It’s time to crack open this Nutshell and see just how crazy the night was…or was not!

Best Match of the night:

For my money, the match I enjoyed the most was Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black. I think those two delivered a great match, no gimmicks needed.

However, I know some will chime in with arguments as to why some other match was best…such as this one:

Worst match of the night:

A few thoughts here, more than singling a match out…

Wasn’t particularly fond of Miz/Wyatt. The build for this was partly strong, but also partly really funky and in an odd way. That said, this particular match was really all about the post-match return by a new look Daniel Bryan.

I also have not been enjoying the Reigns/Corbin program. Didn’t love Corbin winning this evening. Didn’t love the brawl ending the show, overshadowing the women’s match that had entertained us for 25+ minutes.

Star of the Night

Maybe not a popular take, but outside of Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black, no one was really begging for this honor.

Spot of the Night:

Going to leave these here…

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

We kind of expected it. Some of us may have actually guessed it. But, Daniel Bryan coming out all clean looking? To beat the snot out of Bray Wyatt? Very enjoyable way to move that program forward.

Noteworthy Moment:

Daniel Bryan returning after a much needed trim

No titles changed hands

Overall lowlights:

The lack of hype may have hurt this show. Maybe not. But there wasn’t much buzz.

That the Corbin/Reigns match couldn’t just end as planned, but instead had to lead to a brawl that closed the show and undermined the women’s main event.

Overall highlights:

Black and Murphy were very good.

Overall, the stipulation matches were not terrible.

After the final bell:

Not the best, not even close. Not the worst, either, to be completely fair and honest. I’d say it wasn’t as maddening as it could have been, but it was lacking a lot of areas.

That said, it capped off a solid 2019 PPV calendar for WWE, so that has to count for something.
