A California man is being applauded for his Christmas lights display. Not only is it incredibly well done and festive, but it also benefits a very worthwhile cause.
Tom BetGeorge shared a video of his home on YouTube and it is quickly going viral because it’s so fun to watch. He explained that he sets up the lights for the community and also as a way to raise funds for a family homeless shelter in Tracy, California named McHenry House.
Cost of Electric Bill?
Tom answered a question many of us wonder about these Christmas lights that rival the intensity of Clark Griswold’s. How much does your electric bill go up? Even though he goes all out for Christmas, his electric bill doesn’t go up at all. His Magical Light Show is run off solar power. While that might not work in all areas of the country, it works for him.
Probably the most common question I ever get is, “how much is your electric bill???” We generate far more electricity through our solar panels than we ever use on our light show :) I believe in giving credit where credit is due – huge shoutout to “Your Energy Solutions” for installing our system. I bargained with them, and they agreed to give anyone who mentions “Magical Light Shows” $500 off a solar install (we get nothing out of it – just spreading the love).
Christmas Lights Set To Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Sarajevo”
This year’s display is set to the tune of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Sarajevo.” The lights are perfectly timed to the music and change colors with each guitar riff. It’s amazing to watch as it coordinates perfectly with the song.
However, Tom’s display is so popular that he had to cut back on the hours of the show because of traffic problems. You can see it all in the video below. What a great way to celebrate Christmas with the community!
