UFC Moscow: Alexander Volkov Outscores Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy was unable to record an upset win against Alexander Volkov at UFC Moscow, but he did manage to go three rounds with the heavyweight contender.

Round one

Hardy missed with huge right moments in and Volkov returned fire with a leg kick. Volkov scored with a couple of jabs and Hardy threatened with a takedown. Volkov went high with a kick that Hardy just blocked. Volkov landed a few more jabs and he planted a right hand. Hardy fired back a couple of big hooks in return.

Round two

In between rounds, it sounded like Hardy told his corner that he’s injured his right hand. Hardy winged a big left to begin round two and he came with a level change moments later. Hardy fired a few kicks while Volkov continued to fight behind his jab. Hardy fired a big right hand that didn’t land flush. Volkov started using front kicks to the body and Hardy just missed with a spinning back fist. Volkov started picking up the pace in the final minute of round two.

Round three

Hardy came out aggressively in round three but Volkov continued to score with jabs. Volkov planted a nice leg kick moments later. Not long after, he scored with a couple more. Volkov grazed Hardy with a head kick but Hardy continued to press forward. Hardy took a head kick with just over a minute left that didn’t land flush. Moments later, Volkov threatened with another kick to the head.

After the final horn, it was announced that all three judges awarded the fight to Volkov.
