Tori Roloff of "Little People, Big World" on TLC answered fan questions about dwarfism. Nothing was off limits for this wife and mother of little people.

Tori and Zach Roloff use their celebrity status to help dispel myths about little people. The “Little People, Big World” stars show how normal their lives can be not just on their TLC reality show, but also through social media posts. Tori took this a bit farther on International Dwarfism Day by asking her followers to submit their questions for her to answer. Fans took her up on this and asked a wide range of questions!

International Dwarfism Day

As the wife and mother of little people, Tori is an excellent resource for curious people and she didn’t mind answering questions about dwarfism. She’s basically an open book after being in the public spotlight on TLC’s “Little People, Big World” for so long.

Her Instagram post read:

So today is international Dwarfism awareness day! I sometimes forget that my husband and son are “different” because it’s so normal in our family. But I really strive to use this platform for good! I get lots of questions from people (especially mamas) So if you have any questions about dwarfism drop it down below and I’ll answer as many questions as I can. I know I may not be the most qualified to answer questions as it’s something I’ll never truly understand but I’ll do my best and I’ve got some good resources! ?

PS. All you need to know about baby girl right now is she is a healthy girlsie!!

Children With Dwarfism

“Does dwarfism include any developmental delays? Speech wise? Or is Jackson just a quiet kid?” one follower asked.

“Dwarfism does not come with developmental delays,” the proud mother responded. “There are always exceptions. J has hit all milestones of an average height babe. Speech can sometimes be effected [sic] because of the jaw structure but in Jackson’s case, he is just very observant and a little bit of a perfectionist and can get embarrassed if he doesn’t say something right. I would say that’s what keeps him on the quieter side. Except at home. At home, he talks all day long haha.”

Another question revolved around another delay – walking. Tori was asked if Jackson walked later than typical children because of his dwarfism. She replied that Jackson and Zach had quite a difference in when they started walking.

“Every kid walks at different stages and it’s hard to say when a dwarf child should start walking,” Roloff responded. “J started walking around the same time most kids start walking. Zach didn’t walk until he was two. I know an LP that started walking at 9 months. You never know when kids will walk.”

The Word “Midget”

One follower bravely asked a question many of us wonder. Why is the word “midget” offensive.

The TLC star replied, “It’s just been demonized in society in my opinion. It’s been used to insult others and has just become taboo. This was something that I learned because once I started dating Zach I would get asked if he was the m word and it was usually by older people because that’s how they grew up! This used to be the proper term however it’s just been twisted and manipulated.”

Clothes Shopping For Little People

Becca Bracken asked if it is hard to shop for clothes for Jackson.

Roloff replied, “no I LOVE BOYS CLOTHES. Like so fun to shop for. J wears 18-24 months in pants and 2t/3t shirts so it’s still relatively easy to dress him. Shoes on the other hand are a nightmare. He has chunky short feet so finding shoes can be difficult.”

Someone else asked about Jackson’s legs as she thought it appeared they are bowed. Tori had a pretty simple explanation for that.

“They may be a little but it’s also sometimes his pants are long and so they fall a little funny on him,” she shared. “I believe if there is bowing of the legs doctors like to preform surgery earlier to help them grow out of it… if that makes sense??”

What’s Next On TLC’s “Little People, Big World”

Well, Tori and Zach are expecting. And it’s a girl! That has everyone excited.

Family matriarch and proud grandma, Amy Roloff, recently posted on social media that the baby girl was prenatally diagnosed with dwarfism. Realizing her mistake in releasing this information, the post was quickly deleted.

Tori made it clear in the Instagram post above that the couple is not ready to discuss this.
