Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson is Finally Official

If you were worried that some sort of contractual issue would prevent Khabib Nurmagomedov versus Tony Ferguson from happening, well, you can rest easy.

Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson is finally official

Recently it was reported that the UFC was close to adding Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson to an April 18th card in Brooklyn. At the time, it was reported that the lightweight champ had signed his bout agreement, but that Ferguson’s team was still negotiating his terms.

Well, now ESPN is reporting that both UFC President Dana White and Ferguson’s management have confirmed “El Cucuy” has signed onto the fight. Ferguson and his team reportedly flew to Las Vegas and met with the UFC brass Friday, before signing the bout agreement.

So, obviously this is massive news, as one could certainly make the argument that this is one of the biggest lightweight fights in history. This marks the fifth time Khabib and Tony have been booked to fight, as injuries and health issues have axed four other match-ups.

Nurmagomedov (28-0) will be fighting for the first time since UFC 242 in September, when he submitted Dustin Poirier.

Ferguson (25-3), meanwhile, is coming off a TKO win (due to doctor stoppage) over Donald Cerrone in June.

The latest all-star bout to be added to the UFC’s 2020 schedule

Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson is just the latest of several big fights that have been booked now for the UFC’s Q1 and Q4 schedule.

Recently it was announced Conor McGregor and Cerrone are going to battle on January 18th, and that Jon Jones will defend the 205 title against Dominick Reyes on February 8th. That same night, flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will face Katlyn Chookagian.
