Jorge Masvidal Claims Conor McGregor Hasn’t Said “Peep” to Him Since UFC 244

Jorge Masvidal continues to say he’ll be more than ready if an offer ever comes in to fight Conor McGregor. But, according to the surging superstar, McGregor wants nothing to do with “Gamebred”.

Masvidal’s previous calls for a bout with McGregor

After Masvidal wrecked Ben Askren in record time at UFC 239 in July, he relayed he was going to wait for a shot at the welterweight title. Masvidal did say, however, that he’d be more than willing to fight McGregor, if the bout was tabled. At the time, UFC President Dana White said Masvidal was too big for the former lightweight and featherweight champ, and eventually “Gamebred” was booked to fight Nate Diaz at UFC 244.

More recently, however, before Masvidal defeated Diaz earlier this month, White sounded open to McGregor facing the winner of the ‘BMF’ title fight.

Masvidal’s most recent comments about McGregor

Well, Masvidal was a guest on The Dan Le Batard Show this week, and of course, McGregor came up. While discussing the possibility of fighting the controversial star, Masvidal said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“To be quite frank, he was flirting with fighting the winner when the possibility of the winner was Nate,” Masvidal said. “And he kept throwing it out there. He even made his prediction he thought Nate would win. Since I’ve won, he hasn’t said a peep to address me or nothing.”

“I’m not a bully, either,” Masvidal said. “I’m not going to be one of these cyber bullies. If you don’t want to fight, I don’t want to fight. If you want to fight, I’m licking my chops. Man, we’re going shopping. We’re going to do it big. You know what I’m saying? That dude don’t want it.”

“We don’t know who’s next, but everyone is looking at cash symbols (and) cash money to us,” Masvidal said. “… But the next person is going to be the one who puts the most viewers in the bank account, whoever that is. A lot of people are saying my name now. They didn’t want to fight before, though.

Now, it is true that McGregor hasn’t been repeatedly, calling for a fight with Masvidal. Not publicly, anyways. But, after Masvidal defeated Diaz at UFC 244, he did tweet out an order for a “three piece with a soda”, which many people viewed as a call-out of some sorts. After all, the “three piece with a soda” is the line Masvidal made famous earlier this year, following his backstage incident with Leon Edwards.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Donald Cerrone is currently the front-runner to be McGregor’s next opponent. The latter has said he intends to fight January 18th, 2020.
