Dominick Reyes has been calling for a title shot, ever since he took out Chris Weidman last month, and it looks like he’s going to get his wish, and very soon.
Reyes’ push for a bout with Jon Jones
Reyes faced former middleweight champ Chris Weidman at UFC Boston last month and KO’d the decorated fighter in round one. The victory pushed Reyes’ overall record to 12-0 and the rising star immediately called for a title shot.
At first, Jones didn’t sound too interested in fighting Reyes. But more recently the champion reported that he and his coaching staff had determined Reyes is a more serious challenger than Corey Anderson, and that he would fight him next.
New comments from Jones
Well, as it stands right now, Jones – Reyes hasn’t been confirmed. But, recently Jones teased out on Twitter that a fight with Reyes could go down right around the corner.
Just a few weeks away from my next fight, can’t wait for you guys to find out when.
OK, the person I’ll be fighting has something in common with Ryan Bader and Daniel Cormier.
Yeah I was thinking about holding out and playing money games but I said screw it. I’m only young once, I got plenty of money. I’m out after these contenders hearts, I’m out here dream collecting

Since UFC 246 is taking place on January 18th in Las Vegas, and because the pay-per-view card doesn’t have a headliner yet, speculation that Jones – Reyes will take place then is already making the rounds.
Jones (25-1) will be competing for the first time since UFC 239 in July when he defeated Thiago Santos by split decision.
