Dean Martin Would’ve Laughed At ‘Absurd’ #MeToo Version Of ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ Says Daughter

Deana Martin, the daughter of the legendary singer Dean Martin, had some harsh words for John Legend’s new #MeToo version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. Her comments come days after the new more “politically correct” version of the classic Christmas tune’s lyrics were revealed.

‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ Offends #MeToo Activists 

Last week, the Daily Mail first reported that Legend had rewritten the lyrics to ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ after #MeToo activists were “offended” by the lyrics to the award-winning song.

During an interview with Piers Morgan, Deana Martin called Legend rewriting the song “absurd” and even said that he actually made the song far more “sexual” than it originally was.

“Absolutely,” Martin responded when asked if Legend’s actions offended her.

“You do not change the lyrics to the song. He’s [Legend] made it more sexual with those words he’s said. It’s absolutely absurd. I think what he’s done is he’s stealing the thunder from Frank Loesser’s song and my dad. He should write his own song if he doesn’t like this one, but don’t change the lyrics. It’s a classic, perfect song.”

Dean Martin ‘Would Have Laughed’ At ‘Absurd’ New Lyrics

Martin went on to say that her father also would have seen the absurdity in Legend rewriting ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’.

“He would have laughed. He wouldn’t care about something like this, it’s just too absurd for him,” Martin said of her dad.

“It was a fabulous song and it’s been recorded by so many different people. My dad didn’t care about things like that. He was just such a great guy and [it’s] such a fabulous song that I think John should have just left it alone. This is 60 years old this song. I think they’ve all lost their minds. Thank you for bringing it to the forefront.”

John Legend’s ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ Lyrics

Originally written in 1944 by Frank Loesser, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” only became controversial in the last year or two, as multiple radio stations have banned the tune from their airwaves to appease offended liberal snowflakes.

The song won an Academy Award in 1949 after being performed in the film Neptune’s Daughter. Countless musical icons have covered the song throughout the years to include Dean Martin, Willie Nelson, Idina Menzel, Olivia Newton-John, and many more.

The full version of Legend’s “woke” reworking of the song has not yet been revealed, but some of the changes he have made have leaked out.

“What will my friends think …” singer Kelly Clarkson, who recorded the new song with Legend, sings in the updated version.

“I think they should rejoice,” Legend replies.

“… if I have one more drink?” Clarkson continues.

“It’s your body and your choice,” Legend responds.

My Take

We have to agree with Martin that it’s absurd that Legend felt the need to make a “woke” version of ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’. The song is an Academy Award-winning classic for crying out loud.

Why is it that modern liberals have to ruin everything that is supposed to be fun or beloved?

It’s time for Legend and his fellow “woke” liberals to take a chill pill and relax as we head into the holiday season. Life is so much more fun when you aren’t “offended” by every little thing!
