UFC On ESPN 6 Results: Dominick Reyes Stops Chris Weidman

Dominick Reyes rudely welcomed Chris Weidman to the light heavyweight division Friday night.

The unbeaten Reyes remained that way, stopping Weidman in the main event of UFC on ESPN 6. The event took place from the TD Garden in Boston.

Weidman, a former UFC middleweight champion, fell to just 1-5 in his last six. He was looking to rejuvenate his career by moving up to 205 pounds.

Instead, Reyes added his name to the resume, improving to 12-0 in his career.

In the co-main event, Yair Rodriguez got the better of Jeremy Stephens in their rematch from a month ago. The two headlined a card in Mexico, but the bout was stopped seconds into it.

An accidental eye poke led Stephens to say he couldn’t see, and fans tossed trash at the fighter as he left. Rodriguez made sure there was none of that this time.

A heavyweight contest between Greg Hardy and Ben Sosoli was declared a no-contest due to Hardy using an inhaler between rounds. Hardy, a former NFL standout, had been ruled the winner via decision originally.

Boston’s own Joe Lauzon scored a first round victory, stopping Jonathan Pearce via strikes. Maycee Barber finished Gillian Robertson in a flyweight contest.

Darren Stewart opened the main card with a split decision over Deron Winn.

On the prelims, Charles Rosa and Brendan Allen earned submission victories. Randy Costa scored a finish in the first round, with the rest going to the scorecards.

Claiming decision wins were Molly McCann, Sean Woodson, Sean Brady and Tanner Boser.
