Sam Alvey has been forced out of a November 16th bout with “Shogun” Rua, and recently the hard hitting veteran posted an x-ray of the broken hand behind his withdrawal.

Alvey’s withdrawal from UFC Sao Paulo

Alvey and Rua were booked to fight at the UFC’s upcoming card in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and recently it was announced that “Smile’n” Alvey had dropped out. More recently, however, the 33-year-old shared out the comments and image below.

I am so sorry @shogunoficial and @ufc. I broke my hand and i need to pull out of my fight on Nov. 16. An accident in practice has taken me out. My plan and his☝️ plan don’t always align but his plan is always better #godisgood.

Current line-up for the November 16th card

The UFC has yet to find a replacement for Alvey, so, it’s not clear whether Rua will still compete at the upcoming event. If the UFC can’t find an opponent for Rua, it will certainly be a big hit to the card, and time is getting short. The Brazilian star has yet to compete since he took out Tyson Pedro last December.

Here is the current line-up for UFC Sao Paulo (via MMA Fighting).

Jan Blachowicz vs. Ronaldo Souza
Mauricio Rua vs. TBD
Charles Oliveira vs. Jared Gordon
Antonio Arroyo vs. Andre Muniz
Markus Perez vs. Wellington Turman
Sergio Moraes vs. James Krause
Ricardo Ramos vs. Luiz Eduardo Garagorri
Francisco Trinaldo vs. Bobby Green
Warlley Alves vs. Randy Brown
Douglas Silva de Andrade vs. Renan Barao
Ariane Lipski vs. Priscila Cachoeira
Duda Santana vs. Tracy Cortez
