For a little while now, there’s been no shortage of talk about Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa fighting next. But, now it’s been revealed that’s not going to happen, and “The Last Stylebender” has called out Yoel Romero as a result…

Costa’s rise and beef with Adesanya

Costa faced Romero in August at UFC 241, and he emerged from the tightly contested bout with the perennial contender with the decision win. With the victory, Costa moved his Octagon record to 5-0 and his overall record to 13-0. As a result, he was expected to battle Adesanya next. The potential fight had quite a bit of buzz, not only because of what each man has done in the cage, but because of their rivalry. Adesanya and Costa have been trading verbal shots for months.

But, recently White confirmed to “The Schmo” that  Costa has had surged on his bicep and that he’ll be out for eight months. As a result, White said they were working on a different fight for the middleweight champ, Adesanya.

Adesanya calls out Romero

Well, it didn’t take Adesanya long to follow-up on that news, as he’s shared out the comments and image below.

Romero, meanwhile, has already responded (warning: explicit language):

How about that? So, could we see this happen? It very well might. Although Romero is coming off a loss to Costa, it was a very close fight. As was his split decision loss to Robert Whittaker before that. The other fighter in the mix is Jared Cannonier. But, a bout between Adesanya and Romero would likely be bigger at this juncture. Romero has been at the top of the 185 division for quite some time now. Further, Adesanya likely has a fair amount of say now in terms of influencing who he gets as opponents.
