Conor McGregor Shows Off Russian Visa, Plans For Press Conference

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is headed to Russia.

McGregor displayed a Russian visa on social media and his website, The Mac Life, has posted that he will be in the country holding a press conference this Thursday. The event is scheduled for Moscow.

Parimatch, an online sports betting site will be organizing the press conference. McGregor, a former featherweight and lightweight champion, is a brand ambassador.

Conor McGregor Has His Visa To Enter Russia

Russia, of course, is the home to McGregor’s current chief rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The reigning UFC lightweight champion scored a title defense last year over McGregor via submission.

McGregor has made it known publicly that he would be willing to face Nurmagomedov in Russia. He challenged the champion immediately following Nurmagomedov’s win over Dustin Poirier to unify the titles.

Moscow Bound: McGregor To Hold Russian Press Conference

News of the press conference has already started popping up around Russian website. McGregor’s own whiskey launched in the country recently, as well.

For McGregor, though, the press event could be an interesting one. It has been reported that he is involved in an alleged sexual assault in New York City. The matter would be the second in under a year for “Notorious.”

He is also set to appear in a Dublin, Ireland court soon on charges of assault from a bar incident. McGregor struck a man after he refused a shot of his whiskey.

A Look At McGregor’s Resume

The 31-year-old McGregor made his Octagon debut back in 2013, scoring a victory over Marcus Brimage. He added a win over current UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway later that year before being forced to the sidelines with an injury.

In 2014, McGregor returned and finished Diego Brandao and Poirier over the summer. He followed with a main event victory against Dennis Siver to position himself as the No. 1 featherweight contender.

A planned bout with Jose Aldo, though, was scrapped when Aldo was injured. McGregor instead defeated Chad Mendes for the interim belt. He unified the titles with a 13-second knockout of Aldo to close 2015.

McGregor battled Nate Diaz twice in 2016, splitting the two matchups, falling via submission and winning a decision. He claimed the lightweight title later that year with a second round victory over Eddie Alvarez.
