Conor McGregor

Dana White has said the ‘BMF’ title will be up for grabs at UFC 244 only. But, it looks like Conor McGregor could push for another ‘BMF’ title fight in 2020…

Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal

After Diaz worked his way to a decision win over Anthony Pettis in August, he buzzed the MMA world by calling for a fight with Jorge Masvidal. “Gamebred” immediately jumped on board with the idea, and the two will fight in the headliner of the November 2nd, UFC 244 card.

Not only that, but due to the reputations and rugged abilities of both men, Diaz and Masvidal are fighting for a ‘BMF’ title…It’s a marketing bit the UFC is using to help promote the fight (even though it probably doesn’t need to much help in that respect).

McGregor’s claim about the ‘BMF’ belt

Well, while attending a sponsor’s event in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Tuesday, McGregor made the following claim about the ‘BMF’ title (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I designed that ‘Bad Motherf***er’ belt,” McGregor said. “I actually designed that. I signed off on the design of how they are creating that belt.”

Now, did McGregor really design the belt? Chances of that are slim. Could Dana White have possibly sent him the specs just to see what McGregor thought? It’s possible. Sure.

The more interesting comments McGregor made, however, was in regards to the possibility of facing the winner of Diaz – Masvidal.

“So most certainly that belt was brought into fruition, brought to life because of me: the real bad motherf***er. So most certainly one of those men is on my radar.”

So, it’s going to be really interesting to see what happens here. Obviously a rubber match between McGregor and Diaz would be massive, especially if the latter beats Masvidal at UFC 244. There’s no question that Masvidal – McGregor would also be ridiculously huge too.

Previously White has said he doesn’t want to see McGregor fighting at 170 again. But will the UFC really pass on this? If McGregor won’t sign-on to facing a lightweight contender like Justin Gaethje?

UFC 244 will go down at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Here is the line-up for the upcoming event (via MMA Mania).
