Israel Adesanya

Approximately one month out from Israel Adesanya’s showdown with Robert Whittaker, “The Last Stylebender” has been moved into the promotion’s much discussed, pound-for-pound rankings.

Adesanya joins the P4P rankings

Following the UFC’s event in Shenzhen, China last weekend, the promotion has shared out the updated rankings. Adesanya wasn’t in action, but in the new rankings, the interim middleweight champ is now #15 in the P4P ranks.

Adesanya is preparing to fight the champ Robert Whittaker at UFC 243, October 5th in Melbourne, Australia. Adesanya secured the interim belt and a fight with Whittaker this past April, by defeating Kelvin Gastelum.

Light-heavyweight king, Jon Jones, is still holding down the #1 position in the P4P ranks.

Other notable changes

Following Nate Diaz’s return to the Ocatgon last month at UFC 241, and his win over Anthony Pettis, the Stockton star continues to climb the welterweight rankings. Diaz was ranked #7, but in the new rankings, he’s moved up to the #7 spot. Darren Till, who is moving up to middleweight to fight Gastelum on November 2nd, dropped down from #6 to #7.

Jessica Andrade, whose reign as strawweight champ was quickly ended by Weili Zhang at UFC Shenzhen, is now positioned at #1. All the top contenders from #1 through #6 dropped one spot due to the title changing hands.

The UFC’s next event is taking place this Saturday in Abu Dhabi. In the main event, lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov will face interim champ Dustin Poirier.
