UFC Newark

It appears Colby Covington is ready to challenge for the UFC welterweight title.

Covington, a former interim UFC welterweight champion, dominated Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC on ESPN 5 Saturday from Newark, New Jersey and the Prudential Center.

All three judges ruled in favor of Covington.

New Jersey’s own Jim Miller delighted the crowd, earning a first round, first-minute finish over Clay Guida in the co-main event.

Miller locked in a guillotine choke, which resulted in Guida going out in 58 seconds.

Nasrat Haqparast, Gerald Meerschaert, Scott Holtzman and Kennedy Nzechukwu also claimed wins on the main card.
