Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff’s SmackDown Live Involvement

It would appear that, at least as of now, the involvement in storylines and actual matches on SmackDown Live with Eric Bischoff is minimal at best. Bischoff, who was named Executive Director of the show several weeks ago while Paul Heyman was given the same position on RAW, is just a figure at this point.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Live talked to people close to the program and reports “So far to the best of my knowledge after talking to people there all Eric Bischoff has done was show up for work. So, this is not an Eric Bischoff show. He didn’t write this show.

“I don’t think he had anything to do with this show,” Alvarez continued, adding that Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard and others remain in charge.

Bischoff, who turned 65 years old earlier this year, made a name for himself when he became Executive Producer and President of World Championship Wrestling and nearly put WWE out of business during the Monday Night War in the late 1990s. He later served as on-screen General Manager for RAW and had an executive position within Total Nonstop Action Wrestling before returning to the WWE.

For now, Bischoff appears to be a go-between person for WWE and FOX executives, which is likely because of his background in television.

WWE, Roman Reigns Agree To New Contract

Roman Reigns has put pen to paper and signed a new deal with the WWE, according to a report by Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Roman Reigns

The 34-year-old Reigns is a four-time world champion, having held the WWE Championship three times and the Universal title once. He is also a former United States champion, Intercontinental champion and tag team champion, capturing the 2015 Royal Rumble crown.

Reigns is reported to have signed the contract back in July – though no information on the deal is known – with it just now becoming public knowledge. He overcame a second battle of leukemia, returning to the ring in February with SmackDown.

On the most recent edition of SmackDown Live, Reigns and Buddy Murphy had a match. He is still involved in a storyline centering around a mystery attacker with a potential series of matches against Daniel Bryan expected.

Reigns also hit the big-screen with a role in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw as Mateo Hobbs, the character brother of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He is also on the cover of WWE2K20 with Becky Lynch.
