Stipe Miocic Daniel Cormier

It’s still not clear whether Daniel Cormier will fight again, but the legendary fighter has posted a statement, following his stoppage loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 241. In addition, Cormier has apologized to his fans, family and team for what unfolded.

Saturday’s stunning defeat

Leading up to UFC 241, most people understood that Miocic posed a considerable danger to Cormier. But, because Cormier knocked Miocic out last summer at UFC 226, the now former champ-champ was the consensus favorite heading into the contest.

Cormier appeared to be en route to victory through three rounds on Saturday. But in round four, Miocic started hurting “DC” to the body, and then he put away the legend with a booming series of punches.

Cormier’s statement

Well, immediately after the loss, Cormier relayed that he had not followed his coaches game plan. Cormier’s team wanted him to use his wrestling more often, which he did very successfully in round one. But in rounds two and three, Cormier elected to stand and strike with Miocic. That caught up with him in round four.

More recently, the former light-heavyweight and heavyweight champ shared out the statement and apology below:
