Emotional Video Announces Alex Trebek Finished Chemo and Is Returning

“Jeopardy!” wouldn’t be the same without Alec Trebek. He’s been hosting the show since it debuted in 1984. There has been much concern since he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March, but the game show shared some wonderful news on social media. Trebek has completed chemotherapy and will be returning to the show for its 36th season.

Many fans have been cheering for Alec as he battles against this deadly disease. The tweeted video below is welcome news to a lot of people.

Pancreatic Cancer Is Very Aggressive

Pancreatic cancer is very aggressive and the prognosis is often grim. In the past, there wasn’t much hope to offer. Patrick Swayze, Steve Jobs, and Joan Crawford succumbed to it. Trebek realized this when he made the announcement in March about his health. RELATED: “Jeopardy” Host Alex Trebek Reveals He Has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer

“Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” Trebek said while announcing his cancer diagnosis. “And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”

Trebek is incredibly dedicated and even continued taping the show last season while he was ill. He was in extreme pain but pushed through it. He promised to continue on with the show and that’s exactly what he did, even when he was dealing with side effects and overwhelming pain.

Trebek Was Writhing In Pain During “Jeopardy” Filming

“I taped the show and then I made it to the dressing room on one occasion, just barely, before I writhed in pain and cried in pain,” Trebek continued. “And I had 15 minutes before the next show. So, I got myself together and spasms of that kind usually last about 10 to 15 minutes. So, all right, here we go again: ‘Anybody got any pain pills?’ And, I don’t like taking pain pills. But I got through it.”

Producers offered to cancel taping, but Trebek refused even though he was having these attacks three of four times a day. He is incredibly dedicated to his fans. It will be good to see him hosting “Jeopardy!” on the other side of chemotherapy, a lot healthier and in little to no pain.

Please keep Alec Trebek and all those battling cancer in your prayers.
