Despite the cloud of domestic violence controversy that hangs over him (or maybe because of), the UFC had ex-NFLer Greg Hardy on their UFC on ESPN 4 card last night. And as usual, Hardy was fed a total tomato can in Juan Adams.

The fight lasted less than a minute, with Adams going for a takedown and getting hammerfisted into oblivion.

Hooray. Big whoop. Who cares.

It’s hard to imagine a scenario where Hardy turns fans around and makes everyone start liking him, so clearly the UFC is building him up to be some sort of heavyweight villain. You know the kind of villain I’m talking about – people will tune in to watch him lose.

Whatever the case may be, the UFC is still employing a dude who beat a woman. Which sucks. Really, really sucks.

How many football fans are tuning in because it’s Greg Hardy? How many people are legitimately watching because he’s a polarizing figure swimming in a sea of cookie-cutter combat athletes? I don’t have the answers to these questions. I only know that I want Hardy to lose enough times that he quits the sport, or lose enough times that the UFC cuts him.
