Eric Bischoff

Recently, several wrestling websites have claimed that Eric Bischoff will not have much creative input as the new executive director of SmackDown Live. Many wrestling fans questions his role… However, Bischoff has not refuted these claims and has lashed out at the ‘dirt sheet scumbags’ who reported the story.

Eric Bischoff’s Statement On Podcast 83 Weeks

Eric Bischoff

Bischoff spoke out about the rumors on his own podcast, 83 Weeks, this weekIn the podcast, he stated that the rumors were 100% wrong. And, that fans have been fed lies by ‘faux journalists.’

“I’ve been reading a lot of the ‘dirt’ from a lot of the ‘dirt sheets’/faux journalists out there that presumably are trying to convince people that they know what’s really going on. So far, the reporting on all of my—everything that I’ve read has been wrong! I’m not going to address it specifically because No. 1 I don’t want to give them or the crap that they bring any credibility. My start date was never supposed to be before July 22. I made that very clear and that was the understanding across the board but nonetheless, it was reported across the boards early on by dirt sheet scumbags not-to-be-named-here and it was reported wrong.”

Even though Eric Bischoff did not name the journalists in question, many believe it is Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.  Meltzer has been under fire before about inaccurate statements, so it seems like this is one that can be added to the list.

Adjusting To Life In The WWE

Eric Bischoff

In addition to disputing the rumors, Bischoff did reveal some information about his role in the WWE and his current cooperation with the company. He stated he needs to adjust to life within the WWE again, as he has not worked for it since 2007. As such, he claims he will be facing an adjustment process for some considerable time in the future.

Despite the adjustment period, many fans are looking forward to Eric Bischoff getting started on SmackDown Live. When you realise how Eric built a brand that rivaled the WWE at one point, one cannot deny his contributions could be just what the company needs. In fact, Bischoff was known to let wrestlers do their own thing where promos were concerned. This is just the thing the WWE requires. A little more spontaneity and a little less scripting could fix the uninteresting product we have been forced to watch for years now.

Still, we now have to wait until Bischoff starts in his role as executive director. While we may be waiting for some time yet, I do believe it will be more than worth the wait.
