Dog the Bounty Hunter Breaks Down Talking About Life Without Beth

It’s been just two weeks since “Dog the Bounty Hunter” star Beth Chapman tragically passed away at the age of 51 after a battle with cancer. Now, her husband Duane “Dog” Chapman has opened up in an emotional new interview about how Beth prepared him for life without her.

Daily Mail reported that Dog recalled her final moments, saying that he told Beth that he was “not going to let her die” when she asked him to come into the bathroom with her.

“I went in and she said, ‘Look at me.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, you’re freaking beautiful baby,'” Dog recounted. “[And she said,] ‘Look at me, Duane Chapman.’ And I did, I always saw Beth and she said, ‘Please, let me go.'”

Dog revealed that he nearly said “I can’t,” but before he could say “Alright,” Beth couldn’t breathe and he had to call an ambulance.

Dog said that Beth tried to prepare him for life without her by saying things like, “Here’s what to do with this, here’s what to do with that. Don’t keep running your mouth. When they ask you a specific question, just answer that,” but none of it helped.

“So, prepared? No, you’re never, ever prepared. You can’t prepare. There is no way. I did not know that this was going to happen that day,” he explained.

How is Dog doing?

When asked how he was doing, Dog replied by saying that he did not even know how he was doing.

“In a new experience that you have, you don’t know how you’re doing because you’ve never experienced it,” Chapman said.

“I have a lot of people that depend on me. All my supervisors said, ‘Dog, it’s time you man up.’ So I’m trying to man up,” Dog said. “I am a cry baby. I blame it on my heritage. I can cry talking about crying so I would be crying through the whole thing and I sob, I can’t stop it. So I can’t do that. And decisions, you can’t do that, you can’t use that as an excuse. So manning up would be, not get over it, but face it, take over it.”

Dog went on to say that Beth had tried to prepare him for the moment when she would no longer be with him.

“For two to three years, she knew this might happen. So she would say, ‘Who is going to sit next to you?’ And I said, ‘No one,”’ he remembered through tears. ”’Big Daddy, you better not let another girl take my place.’ I said, ‘I won’t.'”

Please keep Dog and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
