UFC Fight Night 153 Results: Anthony Smith Finishes Alexander Gustafsson
Coming off a loss to UFC champion Jon Jones, Smith locked up a fourth round submission on Gustafsson, who retired following the defeat.
Anthony Smith has had quite the 2019.
Smith, who went the distance with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in March, submitted top contender Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 153 Saturday from Stockholm, Sweden.
The win was the 32nd of the career for Smith and the 29th finish, with 12 of those being submission victories. Gustafsson, who challenged for UFC gold three different times, announced plans to retire inside the Octagon following the bout.
In the co-main event, Aleksandar Rakic knocked out Jimi Manuwa in the first round, delivering a head-kick for the finish in 42 seconds.
Makwan Amirkhani claimed a submission victory, with Christos Giagos and Daniel Teymur winning via decision.
