Adrian McCallum, a staple on the British wrestling scene, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 36. His death has sent shock-waves through the British and international wrestling community, with tributes pouring in from indie wrestling legends as well as WWE legends.
WWE superstar Paige was the first to put down a tribute to Adrian McCallum, with the following post on social media.
“Breaks my heart. RIP my friend. You were always so wonderful to me and I’ll be forever grateful that I knew you. Give Trav a big hug from me.”
Several other WWE superstars have reacted to the death of Adrian McCallum; this includes Cedric Alexander and Pete Dunne, who have paid their tributes on social media.
Other reactions from the wrestling universe soon followed:
“Heartbroken for the whole wrestling family tonight. What a talent and what a lovely guy. We will be sorely missed.” – Greg Hemphill
“Love you brother. The Champ. RIP @lionheart – we will never ever forget you. Thank you for everything you done for the British wrestling scene… but more importantly for being our pal.” – Grado
“My deepest sympathies to the family & friends of Lionheart. The champion wrestler will be missed by so many & my thoughts are with my good friend @gradowrestling & all the @InsaneChampWres community.” – Ewen Cameron
“Love you playa. Forever our champion.” – Mark Dallas
Adrian McCallum was the ICW World Heavyweight Champion before his unexpected death; this is the most prestigious championship of Insane Championship Wrestling, one of the biggest indie promotions.
In addition to being a genuine wrestling legend, Adrian McCallum also owned a wrestling promotion – Pro Wrestling Elite – in the Scottish town of Ayrshire. It is not yet known what will happen to the wrestling school.
At the time of this article, no details have been revealed in regards to the death of the Scottish wrestler. However, the final tweet of the wrestler was almost prophetic.
“You will smell your last flower, you will hug your friend for the last time. You might not know it’s the last time, that’s why you must do everything you love with passion.”
It is believed the wrestler was referencing Ricky Gervais‘ After Life, which is available for viewing on Netflix. Still, because he used the tweet just before his death, it almost seems like he predicted his own.
We at Ringside Intel send our condolences to the family and friends of Adrian during this difficult time.
