Some champions shine more than others. One hero that has been shining for quite some time is the current WWE UK champion, Pete Dunne. In fact, the Bruiserweight just hit the one year mark as the WWE UK Champion, so let us take a closer look at the year of Dunne!

Becoming the WWE UK Champion

Pete Dunne became the second WWE UK Champion after beating his own protege, Tyler Bate, in an exhilarating match at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. He would become the second WWE UK Champion on May 20, 2017.

11 Successful Title Defenses

Since becoming the WWE UK Champion, Pete Dunne had 11 successful title defenses. One of his latest defenses was against a member of the Undisputed Era, a faction Pete Dunne has been embroiled with for the past couple of months.

Despite being back-stabbed by Roderick Strong during the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Pete Dunne came out victorious after successfully defending his title against Kyle O’Reilly.

Next Title Defense

The 24-year-old champion will defend his title again soon. His next title defense is set as part of the two-day event at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Dunne will defend his title on the second night.

The opponent of Pete Dunne is not yet known, but will be determined soon! His opponent will be the winner of a 16-man tournament, which takes place on the evening before his title defends. Naturally, some big names are expected to participate.
