Paige Will Bring a New Tag Team to the WWE

The wrestling industry is talking after this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, as Paige announced she will be taking a new tag team to the main roster. With the IIconics being the new tag team champions, a new tag team could mean big trouble for the Aussie pair.

Paige’s Big Announcement

Paige made the announcement on SmackDown Live, a week before the Superstar Shakeup edition. While we were expecting some surprises, we did not see this one coming.

“Well, obviously this is SmackDown Live after WrestleMania and it’s just one week until the Superstar Shakeup,” Paige said when asked what brought her to TV this week. “I mean, that night is just full of surprises and you know what, I just wanted to get a close up look at the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. I mean, they were very impressive, they end the legendary undefeated streak of The Brooklyn Belles… is that what…? Well, yeah, impressive to say the least. Do you want to know a little secret, Kayla? Next week I’m going to be bringing an impressive tag team of my own.”

In the past, Paige has expressed her desire to manage a tag team. It seems like her plans are about to become a reality and we cannot wait to see it!

Who Will It Be?

Ever since the announcement was made, the WWE has been speculating about the identity of this new tag team. Naturally, the WWE Universe has its own suspicions and their own favourites. Among those favourites? Io Shirai and Kairi Sane!

Both Io Shirai and Kairi Sane have been on the top of the NXT division for some time, with Kairi Sane winning the NXT women’s title from Bazler at one point. If the rumors are true, I have no doubt Shirai and Sane will be ruling the women’s tag team division in no time. It would also make sense for Paige to manage the Sky Pirates, as they have quite the heavy accent that can be difficult to understand.

Another rumor going around is that Paige will be managing Tamina and Nia Jax. While this is a persistent rumor, I do think this one is less likely, mainly due to the fact Paige mentioned a new tag team, not an existing one.

Finally, some fans claim the tag team in question will be Rhea Ripley and Reina Gonzalez.  Most fans believe this would be the best fit for Paige, as they match her personality as well. Still, time will tell who made the cut and who did not.
