Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling may have had big nights at UFC 238, and sit at the top of the bantamweight ranks, but that hasn’t stopped Petr Yan from taking a verbal jab at both.

Sterling took on the always dangerous Pedro Munhoz at the event, and drew widespread praise for his performance, which saw him out strike the contender for the unanimous decision win. Cejudo, meanwhile, overcame a rough start against Marlon Moraes and went on to claim the 135 crown via third round stoppage. With the victory, the now flyweight and bantamweight champ has firmly established himself as one of the greatest fighters in the game.

Well, following Yan’s decision win over Jimmie Rivera at the event, the rising Russian fighter spoke with MMA Junkie. When asked who he wants to fight next, Yan reportedly said this:

“I watched (Aljamain) Sterling’s (win over Pedro Munhoz),, and with all due respect, I was not impressed at all. I would beat him and the champion (Henry Cejudo) in one night.”

Wow. Now, does Yan truly believe this? Maybe. The 26-year-old certainly doesn’t seem short on confidence, and he has gone 5-0 now in the UFC. But, there are probably a lot of folks out there who would have him as an underdog against Cejudo, and Sterling too.

It will be interesting to see what comes next for Yan. Although he wants a title shot, Cejudo didn’t mention him in his call outs after his win at UFC 238, and Dana White relayed he was very impressed with Sterling’s performance. So, one would think Yan will need to defeat another top contender before getting that championship fight.
