Is Undertaker’s Return A Desperate Attempt To Boost Ratings?

After an abysmal Stomping Grounds pay-per-view, it seems the company is trying to keep its audience. As we are now heading towards Extreme Rules, a major surprise turned up at Monday Night Raw, more specifically The Undertaker. Here’s the story.

Setting Up A Match For Extreme Rules

The appearance of The Undertaker on Monday Night Raw had a specific purpose, as it sets the foundation for a match against Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon. However, many fans and wrestling reporters are wondering if this is another desperate attempt to boost ratings through a well-loved veteran because their existing product sucks.

Extreme Rules Is Not A Major Pay-Per-View

Before the problems with ratings began, The Undertaker showed up once every blue moon. He would only participate in some of the bigger pay-per-views. Now, it would seem, the WWE are playing The Undertaker card to get people to watch again, as Extreme Rules is far from a major pay-per-view.

The match between Goldberg and The Undertaker in Jeddah is still in people’s minds at this point. While both men have nothing to prove, you do have to wonder why the company is so hell-bent on having these matches with The Undertaker. Let’s face it. The man needs a little downtime every now and again, but it does not seem like he is getting much of it at the moment.

Putting A Plaster On A Broken Leg

If I were to give my opinion, I think The Undertaker’s appearances are a plaster on a broken leg at this point. The WWE is facing disgruntled fans as well as talent and creative employees, mainly due to the way things have been run lately. The sad thing about the whole situation is that the talent is there, but when it comes to providing interesting stories and matches, the company seems to be missing out greatly.

Recent reports state that there is a disconnect between talent, creative, and Vince McMahon himself. It is said that many wrestlers have come to Vince with ideas, only to be shot down immediately. The same seems to apply to WWE creative, who has delivered some ideas without much luck. As a result, we are not seeing some of the brilliant ideas that are happening backstage. I wonder how this will pan out over the next couple of months.
