A royal expert just dropped a major bomb when she revealed that Queen Elizabeth “does not have an intimate relationship” with her granddaughter-in-law Kate Middleton.

“The queen admires Kate tremendously but does not have an intimate relationship with her as they don’t have much in common,” said royal expert Ingrid Seward, according to Fox News. Seward is widely considered to be one of the most respected experts on the royal family, as she has been covering them since the 1980s and has written over twenty books about them.

Seward made sure to add that there is no bad blood between Kate and the Queen. Instead, they simply have a formal relationship as royals, focusing more on their duties than a personal relationship.

“I think the queen and Kate have a more serious relationship as obviously Kate holds all the queen’s hope for the future and she would not want to do anything to upset that,” Seward explained. “The common bond with Kate would be her children and I can’t imagine the queen spending too much time talking about them; she is a very shy woman.”

Queen Is Closer To Meghan

In contrast, Seward said that Meghan Markle has already developed a personal bond with the Queen despite only being in the royal family for just over a year.

“With Meghan, she would tread very carefully and do her best to make her feel at home,” Seward said. “They have a love of dogs in common and Meghan knows how to make her laugh.”

This comes days after Kensington Palace announced that Kate is the new patron of the Royal Photographic Society, a role that the Queen has held ever since she was coronated in 1952. Giving Kate this honor shows that the Queen has a great deal of respect for her, even if their bond is more formal than personal.

“She’s really taken Kate under her wing,” a source close to the royal family said. “The two of them will often spend hours discussing royal life and the future of the monarchy.”

“It’s taken a long time for Kate to get to where she is today,” another insider added. “But she’s ready.”
