Smackdown Live: 8 pm EST

Show opens up and AJ Styles comes out to the ring. Styles, who is now a Raw superstar, says he’s taking advantage Vince McMahon’s new Wild Card rule. Suddenly, Sami Zayn’s music hits and he comes out and immediately starts disparaging the crowd. Then he turns his attention to Styles, who he says needs to be called out for his toxic ego. New Day’s music hits next and WWE Champion Kofi Kingston comes out with Xavier Woods. Kofi says Zayn and Styles can’t have a party out there without them.

Kofi asks Styles exactly what he’s doing showing up at Smackdown. Styles reminds Kofi that HE was at Raw last night, despite not being on that roster officially. The two men go back and forth and tensions begin to run high. Zayn ends up stepping in the mitigate the situation. Zayn credulously asks if Kofi is about to offer Styles a title shot tonight for the crowd’s benefit. Zayn tells Kofi that he shouldn’t go that far for these people. They don’t love Kofi, Zayn says. Kofi interjects and asks Zayn why he smells so bad. Woods also comments on the smell.

Both AJ Styles and Sami Zayn start lobbying for the title shot against Kofi Kingston, and Shane McMahon ends up making the title match official for tonight.

“The best in the world” Shane McMahon comes out to the ring. He wants to address the vacant tag titles on Smackdown. Shane says he’s been asking himself who would be worthy of being the champs. And when he thought about it, the obvious answer hit him clearly. So he introduces his newly anointed Tag Team Champs, Daniel Bryan & Rowan. As the two of them get to the ring, The Usos music hits and they come out to dispute this turn of events. The Usos say they worked too hard in that tag division to see the titles just handed over to those undeserving.

They demand a shot to compete for those titles against Bryan & Rowan instead and Shane agrees.
