Smackdown Live: 8 pm EST

Show opens up and Elias is explaining to Shane McMahon why he ended up losing to Roman Reigns at Money In The Bank. Elias tells Shane that he’ll be in his corner at Super Showdown when he faces Reigns. Shane says he doesn’t need anyone in his corner, but Shane will be in Elias’ corner when he faces Reigns tonight. Elias needs his help against Reigns, Shane says. Elias gives his appreciation for this offer and Shane tells him they’re going to handle it.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods come out to introduce Big E in a return from injury. They bring out someone covered under a blanket, and the big reveal… reveals someone who isn’t Big E at all. Woods and Kofi gripe over this mistake and state that nothing can ever go right. They order the impostor away and try again. This time Big E himself comes out, belting out his catchphrases and carrying on in his trademark fashion.

As New Day is engaging in their usual ludicrous shenanigans, Kevin Owens’ music hits and he comes out, followed by Sami Zayn, to interrupt. Zayn points out that Big E was only gone 6 weeks and he was gone 10 months, returning will basically no fanfare. New Day replies that Zayn deserves nothing. Owens shakes his head and walks off but Zayn remains and continues talking trash at New Day and the fans for the toxic culture they’ve created. Woods starts to interrupt Zayn’s speech with hits on his trombone.

Zayn will face Kofi Kingston in action later tonight.

24/7 champ R-Truth entreats Carmella for her help in avoiding all the people searching for him to take his title at any given moment.

After the match, Paul Heyman comes out holding the Money In The Bank briefcase and looking sly. But suddenly Dolph Ziggler attacks Kofi from behind and starts battering him mercilessly in the ring. Ziggler ends up leaving Kofi laid out after putting his neck in a chair and delivering a forceful trauma against it. Officials have to bring out a stretcher to take him to the back.

Halfway up the aisle, Kofi gets off the stretcher and leaves on his own two feet.

Dolph Ziggler comes out with a mic to explain why he attacked Kofi Kingston earlier. The crowd boos him. Ziggler says Kofi got the opportunity of a lifetime when he won the WWE title and it should have been him. Ziggler runs through all of Kofi’s recent accomplishments and states that they all should have been him. Ziggler says Kofi has faced all the challenges, knocked them all out of the park and earned everyone’s respect… and it should have been him! Ziggler is petulant as he says he will face Kofi at Super Showdown for the title. Everyone will respect Ziggler and admire Ziggler. Ziggler will become champion because it all should have been him.

Shane McMahon gets involved in the match a number of time and then Drew McIntyre ends up coming out and smashing Reigns.
