Reason Behind “Wild Card Rule”

– The WWE Universe is still reeling from the “Wild Card Rule” that was introduced during the opener of last night’s RAW by the Chairman, Vincent Kennedy McMahon. It seems that the entire concept has many scratching their heads; however, there may be a very good reason as to why VKM pulled this rabbit, so to speak, out of his hat.

With the ratings on both RAW and SmackDown LIVE plummeting as of late, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer chimed in on the Wild Card Rule and why it was launched. The television industry is taking note of WWE’s terrible ratings and the company is getting pressure from NBC Universal, the corporation that owns USA Network, as well as Fox, the soon-to-be home of SD LIVE.

As Meltzer noted, Fox requested more storylines that would be highlighted on both SmackDown and RAW; meanwhile, NBC Universal was quite upset about the downward spiral of the Red brand’s ratings, and was wondering why WWE would “give” Roman Reigns away if they were struggling with viewership numbers on RAW as it is.

As such, top WWE stars will be profiled on both shows, to appease demands from both of the networks the company works with.

– Speaking of rabbits, the hyperactive bunny known as Ramblin’ Rabbit on Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House show was sadly killed last night, just as the WWE Universe was growing so fond of him. In all seriousness, in a disturbing turn of events, Wyatt discovered that Mercy the Buzzard had killed the rabbit when he found his fluffy remains in the buzzard’s box.

Mercy did a very bad thing, but the good news is, Wyatt forgave him, because he too has done bad things that have been pardoned in the past. Bray proceeded to celebrate after Mercy was forgiven with a picnic for a bunch of Firefly Fun House kids. The segment was troublesome to say the least, but Firefly Fun House and Wyatt continue to fascinate the WWE Universe.

Wyatt hopped on Twitter to comment on Ramblin’ Rabbit’s passing, with another infamously cryptic tweet. See below:
