Johnny Gargano Injured

– There could be a problem with one of NXT’s biggest stars. Johnny Gargano is currently dealing with a knee injury according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. As of right now, he is still expected to defend the title against Adam Cole at NXT’s Takeover XXV on June 1 in Connecticut; which will be a rematch from Takeover New New York.

There are not many details on the injury. Gargano last competed at a house show in March 8 and during the recent TV tapings, he barely got physical in tag matches.

If Gargano does have to drop the title due to injury, it would be a similar situation that occurred with his friend and DIY partner, Tommaso Ciampa. While out, Gargano has been working in a backstage role for NXT.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has their first show, Double Or Nothing, tomorrow and they just signed a major name. Wrestling legend Dean Malekno is now a Coach and Senior Producer for the upstart promotion.

Malekno worked around the world before joining ECW and then WCW. He would eventually land in WWE, where he worked behind the scenes for the last decade. He left WWE earlier in the year.

Below is the official press release with a picture of Malekno, Cody Rhodes and AEW President Tony Khan.
