Future Of SmackDown Tag Titles

– This past Tuesday on SmackDown, The Hardy Boyz had to relinquish the Tag Team Championships due to Jeff Hardy requiring knee surgery. In the same segment, Matt Hardy was then victim to Lars Sullivan’s latest assault.

WWE announced that Shane McMahon will be at SmackDown to crown new Tag Team Champions. No word if the gold will be handed to a new team or if a match or several matches will take place to crown new holders to the titles.

The Hardy Boyz won the belts shortly after WrestleMania 35 from The Usos (who later joined RAW thanks to the Superstar Shake-Up) and the reign only lasted a few weeks. It was a major setback considering Matt and Jeff both recently returned to TV after dealing with various injuries. Jeff has already undergone surgery on his knee and will be out of action for six to nine months, meaning he will not be back until around early 2020 and could even miss WrestleMania 36.

The Hardy Boyz recently opted to renew their WWE contracts, which end at next year’s WrestleMania. WWE could always add time due to missing action because of injuries.

Also confirmed for Tuesday includes Ali vs. Andrade, Bayley, Carmella & Ember Moon vs. Charlotte Flair, Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose and Kevin Owens will address being attacked by Kofi Kingston.

– AJ Styles was the franchise player of Impact Wrestling before leaving in 2014, winning every title possible and always being a favorite for his unique in-ring skill set. He traveled the world for a bit and then joined WWE, where he become a major star.

On Twitter, Styles mocked Impact Wrestling for what he described as one of the worst wrestling shirts ever produced.
