According to The Blast and other media outlets, former WWE superstar Ashley Massaro has passed away. She was 39 years old.
There are no details at this moment, but the Suffolk County Medical Examiner stated that she passed away today, May 16. Her death is currently being investigated. Although, the police do not believe foul play was involved.
At 5:23 AM EST, police received a responded to what is being labeled a ‘rescue call.’ She was taken from her home and brought to the hospital, where they pronounced that she passed away.
In 2005, Massaro won the Divas Search. She worked with WWE until July 2008 and had challenged for the Divas Championship against Melina at WrestleMania 23. She also appeared in Playboy.
After leaving WWE, Massaro did not work much on the Indy scene. She had been part of a class action lawsuit against WWE for concussions and also claimed she was sexually assaulted during an overseas show; but the promotion convinced her to not take legal action. In March of this year, Massaro announced a return to the wrestling ring.
She leaves behind a daughter. WrestleNewz sends its condolences as the wrestling world reacts.

I have no words. Ashley was my tag partner at Wrestlemania. My sometimes road wife. We did countless photo shoots and press days together. It seems like yesterday Ashley was a major part of my life and then our worlds changed and now she is gone. Im heartbroken for her family. https://t.co/QTcNxN3P0K pic.twitter.com/olaTWKD9JS
