Smackdown Live: 8 pm EST

Show opens up and Kevin Owens comes out for an edition of The Kevin Owens Show. His guests are The Viper Randy Orton and his WrestleMania opponent, AJ Styles. Owens asks Orton if he’s proud of ruining Kurt Angle’s final Smackdown match against Styles last week. Orton says he is because no one wants to watch a washed up former-Olympian like Angle. Styles retorts that Orton has done it all in this business and yet still only managed to learn one move. Orton says Styles wants to act like he and all the other indie guys had it so hard but while they were all making a buck or two in back alleys, Orton was competing at WrestleManias.

Styles points out Orton’s past failures of drug testing but Orton replies that if Styles was as good as he thinks, he would have been in WWE a long time ago. Orton says that ever since John Cena went off the Hollywood, Styles has become the new “corporate bitch”. Owens sees the writing on the wall and leaves the ring, just as Orton and Styles engage and start to brawl. Styles goes for a Phenomenal Forearm but Orton catches him in midair with an RKO out of nowhere, ending Styles momentum in a flash.

8-Man Tag Team Match: Aleister Black & Ricochet & Tag Champs The Usos vs. The Bar, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev

The Usos secure the victory for their team with tandem superkicks to Rusev.

Winners: Aleister Black & Ricochet & The Usos

After the match, WrestleMania host Alexa Bliss comes out. She recalls how The Usos forfeited during the tag team Gauntlet Match last week because they believed Kofi Kingston had already earned his WWE title shot. Bliss says that was very noble… and deserving of repercussion! She tells the Tag Champs in consequence that they will have to defend their titles at ‘Mania against all the teams they just shared the ring with. All those teams end up brawling in the ring as a response to the news.

The IIconics come out to the ring to cut a promo ahead of their participation in the Fatal 4-Way match for the Women’s Tag Team Championship at ‘Mania.

3-on-1 Handicap Match: The Miz vs. SAnitY

Miz’s ‘Mania opponent and former friend Shane McMahon arranged this stacked deck against him. Shane comes out part way through the match and makes it a Falls Count Anywhere match. Miz pulls out the win, pinning Eric Young backstage after clobbering him with a foreign object.

Winner: The Miz

After the match, Miz watches as Shane, grinning obnoxiously, drives away in a limo. Becky Lynch arrives at that very moment as the passenger in a police car and starts heading into the arena.

The Man Becky Lynch is introduced by Corey Graves and she comes out to the ring behind a big ovation from the crowd. Becky takes the mic from Graves before he can interview her and she just does her own thing and cuts a promo. She points out how this time last year she and Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair were friends and Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey was just getting ready to debut. And now all three of them are rivals and will headline this year’s WrestleMania. Becky says when it’s all said and done, she will leave WrestleMania as the double-champion.

16-Person Mixed Tag Team Match: The Hardy Boyz, Heavy Machinery, R-Truth, Naomi, Asuka, Carmella & Nikki Cross vs. Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Andrade, EC3, Shelton Benjamin, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Zelina Vega & Lana

Somehow the match turns from a tag match into a battle royal? Nothing makes sense about this so don’t worry about it. WWE has no plan.

No Winners

Case in point…

They tell us this:

But the result is this:

You figure it out. WWE’s writing team obviously took a holiday… during WrestleMania week… Heck of a time for there to be no plan but WWE thinks it can perpetually phone it in, even ahead of their most important show of the year. Last night’s Raw and tonight’s Smackdown have been complete throwaways. If there is a lack of any clear plan now, at a time when it matters most, just imagine how little effort they put in the rest of the year. Well, enjoy.

Singles Match: United States Champ Samoa Joe vs. Mustafa Ali

Joe finishes Ali with a Coquina Clutch.

Winner: Samoa Joe

WWE Champion Daniel Bryan comes out to the ring with Rowan, and Kofi Kingston comes out with his New Day brothers for their contract signing. Bryan cuts a promo and tries to “educate” everybody, but the crowd drowns him out with chants of “Kofimania!” Bryan tells Kofi not to mistake a fad for reality. Bryan says he’s been in Kofi’s exact spot in the past. The same way the crowd chanted “Yes” for Bryan, they now chant “Kofimania” for Kofi. Bryan says he knows it feels good, but the reality is that Kofi doesn’t feed off the fans. The fans feed off Kofi.

Because they’re parasites, says Bryan. And when they are done, they will discard Kofi, just like they did Bryan. So Bryan tells Kofi to soak all of this in because this is the best it’s ever going to be. Kofi suddenly stands up and snatches the microphone away from Bryan. Kofi says everybody has had to listen to Bryan but now it’s time for Bryan to listen. Kofi says Bryan doesn’t know him at all. 11 years and Kofi says he’s never had a singles match for the WWE title, and that’s okay. His journey has led to this moment. The crowd chants “You deserve it!”

Kofi says the only thing he and Bryan have in common is that Bryan knows what all this feels like… and that’s why Bryan is scared. That’s because, Kofi says, it ends with Bryan losing his WWE Championship. Kofi drops the mic and signs the contract.
