Shield Bids Ambrose Farewell + AJ Styles Injury + 3rd Mae Young Classic

-Last night on RAW, we got what was billed as Dean Ambrose’s final match on RAW. If you watched the show, you know it wasn’t so much a match as it was a beat down, with Bobby Lashley putting the Lunatic Fringe through the RAW announce table.

We’ve learned from multiple sources that, once the cameras were off and RAW was off air, there was a proper farewell for Ambrose.

WWE provided video of the farewell, via their website.

Additionally, PWInsider has a full transcript of what Seth Rollins said to and for Dean Ambrose, as well as Dean’s address to the fans. That transcript can be found here.

-Per Wrestling Observer, AJ Styles is nursing a hip injury. WWE confirmed the injury, though the impact of it is not fully known yet. Styles is advertised for the post-WrestleMania SmackDown. The plan, per the television spot, was to have him and Kofi Kingston work a tag match against the New Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton.

While the card is, of course, subject to change, there has not yet been any word on if Styles will indeed miss tonight’s scheduled match. If he is unable to work SmackDown tonight, it will be interesting to see how plans change.

Per rumblings ahead of WrestleMania, Styles and Orton were planned for a longer program that was effectively starting on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

-In a rumor that does not surprise me, it appears likely that we will get a third Mae Young Classic later on this year.

The site Squared Circle Sirens reported on the third iteration of this NXT level women’s tournament returning once again. Apparently, this plan was discussed during a video recorded at the time of the recent WWE tryouts in Germany.

The tournament has been good for WWE, with several important Superstars on the NXT rosters having debuted as part of the MYC. Assuming WWE plans to continue to push the women’s tag team division, the Classic offers an additional pipeline for female Superstars to reach WWE.
