Many celebrities in Hollywood have found themselves being afflicted with Trump derangement syndrome, but Robert De Niro has to have one of the worst cases that we’ve ever seen. De Niro has let his hatred for President Donald Trump completely consume his life, and he showed this once again when he spoke at Samantha Bee’s “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” in Washington D.C.
During the event, which is meant to rival the actual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, De Niro dramatically said that he sees it as his duty to speak out against the Trump administration.
“I’m happy to stand with Samantha Bee tonight to support the First Amendment – the right of the president to be a relentless and unrepentant, lying scumbag, the right of his supporters to not give a s***, and our right to do something about it,” De Niro said.
This is far from the first time that De Niro has gone after Trump in this way. Just last week, he told leftwing talk show host Stephen Colbert that he has fantasized about putting the president in handcuffs and “tak[ing] him away in an orange jumpsuit.”
“We have a wannabe gangster in the White House now,” De Niro said. “Even gangsters have morals; they have ethics, they have a code, and you know, when you give somebody your word, that’s all you have is your word, especially in that world. This guy, he doesn’t even know what that means.”
This serves as a reminder that Trump derangement syndrome is very real indeed. It’s sad to see someone like De Niro completely let his obsessive hatred for Trump consume him in this way and take over his life. His hatred for the president literally has him acting like a fool in front of the entire nation right now, and I can’t help but think that he’s going to look back on his deranged behavior with regret someday.
De Niro should stick to what he does best, which is get overpaid for playing pretend, and leave the politics up to those of us who actually live in the real world.
