Christians Hold ‘Save Chick-fil-A Day’ in Texas Capitol

Liberals all over the country have been trying to shut down as many Chick-fil-A restaurants as they can because they believe the fast food chain is anti-gay. Now, a group of conservative Christians in Texas are fighting back by urging lawmakers to pass two bills that would stop the government from penalizing business owners on grounds of religious faith.

Fox News reported that the Christian group Texas Values staged a “Save Chick-fil-A Day” protest at the Texas state Capitol building in Austin yesterday in response to the San Antonio City Council blocking the opening of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in their city’s airport.

“This egregious attack follows a growing trend of anti-Christian intolerance and bigotry by the government against Christians for simply living out their faith and holding to the biblical truth about marriage and sexuality,” reps for the group wrote on social media about the “Save Chick-fil-A” event. “No Texas business or individual should ever be punished for practicing their faith.”

“This Legislature — this House and this Senate — has an opportunity to hold the San Antonio City Council accountable and make it clear that you should not discriminate based on religious beliefs,” Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz added. “Save Chick-fil-A and help us support religious freedom.”

Many Texans took to social media to express their support for “Save Chick-fil-A.”

“Supporting Chick-fil-A with a nice cold sweet tea… I do not think any business should be unable to rent space in a Texas airport, or anywhere for that matter, because of their Christian values,” one social media user wrote. “America was built on moral Christian values!!!”

Afterwards, Chick-fil-A released a statement saying that they are not connected to Texas Values in any way.

“Chick-fil-A did not organize the event referenced, and we are not involved with the proposed bills in any way. We are a restaurant company focused on food and hospitality for all, and we have no social or political stance,” a spokesperson for the change said. “We are grateful for all our customers and are glad to serve them at any time. We welcome and embrace all people, regardless of religion, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity.”

Despite what liberals say, Chick-fil-A has always been an inclusive chain that is not out to get anyone in any way. It’s time for liberals to let back off and allow the fast food chain to continue making the chicken that we all love.

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
