CBS TV Show ‘The Good Fight’ Tweets ‘Assassinate President Trump’

Fans everywhere are outraged today after the official Twitter account of the CBS drama series “The Good Fight” tweeted out the words “assassinate President Trump.”

Deadline reported that on Friday, “The Good Fight” tweeted out an image from a recent episode called “The One Where Diane Joins the Resistance.” The image shows a list of “target words” that included the phrases “Assassinate President Trump” and “Eliminate Mar-a-Lago.” After fans expressed their outrage over this, the tweet was deleted, but it lives on in screenshots.

“Hmmm… some of those target words look a little familiar. Did you catch any easter eggs in this scene from The One Where Diane Joins The Resistance? #TheGoodFight,” the account tweeted alongside the image.

The backlash to the tweet was swift, as Twitter users immediately reported it to the Secret Service.

“Threatening the President of the United States is a federal felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871. It consists of knowingly and willfully mailing or otherwise making ‘any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President,'” one social media user commented, with another adding, “@SecretService, please investigate this assassination threat against President Trump.”

“Yes, @CBS this is despicable to run subliminal messages encouraging the assassination of the president @realDonaldTrump,” a third user tweeted, “I hope @SecretService investigates @thegoodfight thoroughly.”

Can you imagine what would have happened had a nationally televised show tweeted out the words “Assassinate President Obama?” All Hell would have broken loose, and the show immediately would have been canceled. Since the tweet was about President Trump, however, “The Good Fight” has suffered virtually no consequences for calling for the assassination of a president.

This just goes to show that Trump derangement syndrome is real, and it affects millions of people both in and out of Hollywood. It’s pathetic and disturbing that a show would think that it’s appropriate to tweet something like this, and we can only hope that “The Good Fight” is punished in some way in the future.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
