Casey Kenney is having a week he’s never going to forget, as following his championship win at LFA 62, he’s been tapped to fight Ray Borg at UFC Philadelphia, Saturday.
Kenny added LFA’s interim bantamweight title to his resume last Friday, by quickly taking out Vince Cachero. Kenney was already holding the promotion’s interim flyweight belt.
Well, now the UFC has confirmed that Kenney has agreed to step-in for Kyler Phillips at UFC Philadelphia, and will battle the 125 contender, Borg. The bout, however, will be contested at 135.
The 28-year-old Kenney makes his way to the UFC having won four straight bouts. His only loss to date was via split decision to Adam Antolin in 2017, on a Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series card.
The 25-year-old Borg (11-3), meanwhile, has yet to compete since he was submitted by now-former champ, Demetrious Johnson in 2017. Borg is currently ranked #3 in the UFC’s 125 division, so, obviously this a huge opportunity for Kenney to turn heads in his debut.
