Last month, we reported that Meghan Markle had violated royal protocol by attending a lavish baby shower thrown for her by her celebrity friends in New York City. Though Meghan received tons of backlash for this, new reports are coming in stating that the Duchess of Sussex is preparing to blatantly violate royal protocol once again by holding a second baby shower at Buckingham Palace.

Fox News reported that a source said that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland is flying in from Los Angeles to attend the baby shower.

“Doria is coming to a baby shower here. It will be a small gathering of five or six people,” the source said, adding that former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham will likely also be in attendance.

Meghan had reportedly been hoping to have the baby shower at her future residence of Frogmore Cottage, but since the home is still undergoing renovations, she has decided to have it at Buckingham Palace.

Baby Showers have long violated royal protocol

Baby showers have long been forbidden by the royal family because they are considered to be an ostentatious display of wealth for them. The entire point of a baby shower is for pregnant mothers to be given gifts that they may not be able to afford themselves in anticipation of having their children. Since the royals can obviously afford absolutely any necessities for their new babies, Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family have always felt that holding a baby shower would not be a good look for them.

Kate Middleton did not have a baby shower when she was pregnant with any of her three children, and there was speculation that she did not attend Meghan’s New York City baby shower because of the fact that it violated royal protocol. Given the backlash that Meghan received for her first baby shower, which cost $500,000 to throw, it seems like she is either trying to make waves now or genuinely does not care at all about following royal protocol.

Meghan seems to resent having to follow any kind of royal rules. Instead of focusing on doing things her own way, perhaps she should think more about how lucky she is to be a member of the royal family. These rules were designed by the Royals to maintain their royal status as long as possible by lowering the amount of resentment the public would have for them. The Queen and the rest of her family know how lucky they are to lead the privileged lives they do, and Meghan should focus more on counting her blessings than getting around the royal rules.
