Whoopi Goldberg Speaks Out to Defend Liam Neeson

Whoopi Goldberg spoke out on the ABC talk show “The View” earlier this week to defend actor Liam Neeson from accusations that he is a bigot after he admitted to having racist impulses over 40 years ago.

This has been an exceedingly rough week for Neeson ever since he told a story about wanting to seek revenge following the rape of a loved one four decades ago. After learning that she had been raped by a black man, Neeson said he felt the urge to get revenge by attacking an innocent black person. Neeson never actually followed through with this, however, and he sought help when he felt that he was about to do something violent.

“It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that,” Neeson said. “It’s awful. But I did learn a lesson from it.”

This show of remorse meant nothing to the left, as a brutal Lynch mob formed against Neeson with the goal of completely destroying his career. Unsurprisingly, much of Hollywood has followed suit by turning their backs on Neeson, which is why it came as a surprise when Goldberg became the voice of reason and stuck her neck out to defend the actor.

“People walk around sometimes with rage, that’s what happens,” she said. “Is he a bigot? No. I’ve known him a pretty long time, I think I would have recognized, I’ve been around a lot of real bigots. I can say this man is not one. You can’t be surprised that somebody whose loved one is attacked is angry and wants to go out and attack.’”

Neeson’s story certainly is not a pretty one, but it should be noted that the actor did not actually DO anything and he was ashamed of the way he felt during that dark time. Like Goldberg said, he felt the natural rage that anyone would feel when a loved one is attacked. As soon as he felt that he was going to hurt an innocent person with this rage, he got help and turned his life around.

Liberals sharpen their pitchforks and go after Neeson

We should live in a society where someone can tell a redeeming story like this without facing backlash, but alas, we no longer do. Instead, we live in a society where the left is quick to form a lynch mob against anyone who does virtually anything remotely offensive. They seem to take such joy in ruining peoples’ lives that they don’t even get all the facts straight before going on their destroy mission. We saw them do this to people like Roseanne Barr and the Covington High School students, and we’re now seeing this again with Neeson.

It should be noted that Neeson is a Hollywood star who has stayed out of politics and refused to spout out leftwing propaganda. This means that he is not eligible for the “free pass” that is given to liberals like Joy Behar, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon, who have all been forgiven for racist mistakes they have made because they serve the purpose of preaching liberal views to the public.

Liberals would do well to remember that none of us are perfect, and one comment should not define us for the rest of our lives. It’s time for them to let this go, and allow Liam Neeson to move on with his life.
